The fall of the han dynasty
- The rich taking advantage of the poor was a large part in the fall of the Han Dynasty.
- When the poor had to borrow money from the rich, they made very high interest rates, which made it very hard for the poor farmers to pay them back, and if the farmers didn't pay them back, then the rich got their land.
- Also, large landowners didn't even have to pay taxes. This made the gap between the rich and poor increase.
- Wang Mang was the one to really overthrow Han.
- He did this by taking the imperial title for himself and overthrowing the Han.
- Wang Mang tried to take control of the country and started making new money to fix the treasury's shortage, and set up public granaries to help feed China's poor.
- After a great flood, there was not enough food, and angry peasants started to revolt, and the rich joined them in these revolts.
- After the Han's took control again and got the Silk Roads back, they still could not make up for the social, political, and economic weaknesses.
- The same thing that ruined to the earlier Han happened once again and the Han Dynasty was split into three rival kingdoms.
